LHS COLOR GUARD & WINTER GUARD
The Langley Color Guard is an essential element of Langley’s marching band program, adding precision, thematic unity and extraordinary visual content to each show. The program is under direction of Rachel Robinson and continues to grow each year. Anyone is welcome to join team. Tryouts are typically in the spring/summer.
The Color Guard uses flags, rifles and sabres paired with dance and movement choreography as well as costuming to visually express the theme of the marching band show. The team performs at halftime shows and local marching band competitions in the fall.
After completing the fall half-time show and competition season with the Marching Saxons, the Langley Color Guard gets ready for the Winter Guard season. Winter Guard is an indoor sport in which guards perform to their choice of pre-recorded music. Winter Guard practices begin in November, with competitions occurring in February through April.
In 2019, the Langley Winter Guard took home an incredible 4th place finish in their class of seventeen guards at the Atlantic Indoor Association Color Guard Championships. In 2022, the team was promoted to the next level up and finished the season in 3rd place at the Atlantic Indoor Association Color Guard Championships. This was the first time the team medaled at Championships. Congratulations, LHS Guard!
