COLOR GUARD & WINTER GUARD

The Langley Color Guard is an essential element of Langley’s marching band program, adding precision, thematic unity and extraordinary visual content to each show.

The Color Guard uses flags, rifles and sabres paired with dance and movement choreography and costuming to visually express the theme of the marching band show.

Each year, the Guard selects its costuming and the sizes, shapes and textures of its flags to highlight the mood and sound, and employs different spins and tosses of its equipment to articulate moments in the music.

After completing the fall half-time show and competition season with the Marching Saxons, the Langley Color Guard gets ready for the Winter Guard season.

Winter Guard is an indoor sport in which guards perform with a back-drop of their choice of pre-recorded music. Winter Guard practices begin in November, with competitions occurring in February through April.

In 2018-2019, only their third year of competition, the Langley Winter Guard took home an incredible 4th place finish in their class of seventeen guards at the Atlantic Indoor Association Color Guard Championships. Congratulations, Guard!
